Located 30 kilometres south-east to Lond on\, close to the town of West Kingsdown\, the Grand Prix circuit is one of Great Britain’s most popular racetracks. From 1964 to 1986\, Brands Hatch and Silverstone hosted the British GP in turns. For the DTM\, this year’s round will represent its debut appearance at the track that was built back in 1926 and was incorporated into the hills of the Kent count ryside o create a natural amphitheatre. The first car race in Brands Hat ch was held in 1950. Up to this point in time\, it was only used as moto rbike racetrack. \n\nThe DTM will race on the circuit’s 1\,929-kilometre Indy layout - a truly challenging track. At the end of the pit straight \, the drivers will have to cope with the ‘Paddock Hill Bend’ - a bend y ou need all your courage for. On the track slightly sloping to the outsi de\, you go at high speed down the ‘Hailwood Hill’ and\, following a dep ression\, up again towards ‘Druids Hill Bend’. Then it’s downhill again\ , across the fast left-hander ‘Graham Hill Bend’\, followed by the Coope r Straight leading to the corner prior to the pit straight: the ‘Clark C urve’ with a total angle of nearly 270 degrees. \n\nThose who travel to Brands Hatch may look forward to a lot of touring car action: being abou t 363 metres shorter than the Norisring\, Brands Hatch is the shortest c ircuit on the DTM calendar and offers the drivers nearly no opportunity to relax\, with a lot of courage being a must. The 38.03-second ‘Indy-Ci rcuit’ lap record was established back in 2004 by teenager Scott Mansell in a Formula 1 Benetton car formerly driven by DTM star Jean Alesi.\n\n Winner:\n2006 Mattias Ekström (Audi) UID:3E236F8D-8770-4664-A611-6FA60409906A TRANSP:OPAQUE URL;VALUE=URI:http://dtm.com/rennen.php?rennen=2007-06-10 DTSTART;TZID=US/Eastern:20071222T120000 DTSTAMP:20071129T030229Z SUMMARY:DTM CREATED:20071129T030119Z DTEND;TZID=US/Eastern:20071222T130000 LOCATION:Brands Hatch END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT SEQUENCE:7 DESCRIPTION:The Norisring is situated in the middle of Nürnberg. The act ion and extraordinary flair of this city race lures droves of spectators each year into the city with its world-famous \"Christkindl Markt\". Be tween races fans are treated to a wide range of traditional delicacies\, while drivers and teams retire to the large and idyllically situated dr ivers’ camp by the Dutzend pond\, where fans also mingle. \n\nThe party throbs late into the night throughout the drivers’ camp and in the tents on the fields. Lively parties stir up an atmosphere similar to that of the Formula 1 GP in Monaco. The cars naturally take centre stage on race day. The locals have taken to following the race from comical homemade stands. Each stand has its own charm since you can be close to the actio n everywhere. Located close to the Catalan metropolis\, Barcelona\, th e 4.267-kilometre Grand Prix circuit will be the venue of the inaugural Spanish DTM round\, held on 24th September\, 2006. \n\nThe ‘Circuit de C atalunya’ was built in 1991 and has been one of the modern European race tracks\, since then. The circuit not only hosts the Spanish Formula One GP and the Moto GP but also represents a popular testing circuit for bot h Formula One and DTM teams\, with the teams appreciating the region’s a greeable weather conditions in winter just as much as the circuit’s high safety standards and its spacious pit-lane. \n\nThe Grand Prix circuit itself represents a well-balanced combination of fast and slow sections. It’s used clockwise and consists of five left-handers and nine right-ha nders. According to experience\, the track surface is rather dusty at th e beginning of a weekend\, with its grip level improving lap by lap. Ove rtaking opportunities are rare\, hence\, a good grid position for the ni nth round of the DTM season will be vital. Two of the circuit’s key posi tions are the chicane following the long pit-straight and the fast ‘Camp sa’ bend located at the backside of the paddock. Here\, it’s not only ab out the perfect balance of the DTM cars but the tyre wear will also turn out to be a key factor\, over the course of the race. \n\nWinner:\n2006 Martin Tomczyk (Audi)\n\nDate: 23.09.2007\nStart race: 14:00:00\nLength : 2\,977 km\nDistance: 58 laps\nLap record: Bernd Schneider (Mercedes-Be nz)\, 1:03.919 Min. Both races in 2006 will be held on the new 4. 574 kilometre-long Grand Prix track\, where the DTM last year hosted the thrilling climax to the season. In the years before\, the season opener was staged on the small track and the finals on the large track. Althou gh the former Grand Prix track was shortened by more than two kilometres during reconstruction it has maintained the characteristics of the Hock enheimring Baden-Württemberg as a high-speed circuit. \n\nThe Mercedes A rena has been built on the new part of the course right by the series of challenging turns between the hairpin turn and the entry to the Motodro m. The Mercedes Arena is an architecturally fascinating grandstand with 6\,521 seats on two tiers as well as a storey of boxes and a superb view out onto the fast Parabolika\, the hairpin turn and the series of turns that leads back into the Motodrom.\n\nBuilt in 1932\, the race circuit is famous above all for its Motodrom\, whose style creates a quite uniqu e atmosphere. Similar to a football stadium\, the circuit is almost enti rely framed by the grandstands on which thousands of spectators cheer on their stars like the gladiators in Roman times. A frisson is assured.\n \nWinners season finale\n2000 (1) Uwe Alzen (Opel)\n2000 (2) Uwe Alzen ( Opel)\n2001 Bernd Mayländer (Mercedes-Benz)\n2002 Bernd Schneider (Merce des-Benz)\n2003 Jean Alesi (Mercedes-Benz)\n2004 Bernd Schneider (Merced es-Benz)\n2005 Jean Alesi (Mercedes-Benz)\n2006 Bruno Spengler (Mercedes -Benz)\n\nDate: 14.10.2007\nStart race: 14:00:00\nLength: 4\,574 km\nDis tance: 37 laps\nLap record: Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz)\, 1:34.726 Mi n.
